Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Ground Station Operations Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our satellite operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our ground station facilities. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in ground station operations, satellite communication protocols, and RF engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operation of ground station equipment, including antennas, receivers, transmitters, and data processing systems, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Satellite Communication: Establish and maintain communication links with satellites, execute telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) operations, and troubleshoot communication issues as needed.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to maintain the reliability and availability of ground station infrastructure.
  • System Optimisation: Monitor and optimise ground station operations to maximize performance, throughput, and efficiency, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Develop and maintain SOPs, documentation, and compliance records for ground station activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security protocols, best practices, and compliance measures to protect ground station assets and data from unauthorised access and cybersecurity threats.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including satellite operations, engineering, and IT, to support mission objectives and address operational challenges effectively.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff members, sharing your expertise and helping to develop their skills.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay updated on advancements in ground station technology, satellite communication protocols, and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations promptly, participating in disaster recovery and contingency planning efforts to ensure continuity of operations.

Candidate requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication engineering, Aerospace engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of experience in ground station operations, satellite communication, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting ground station equipment, with a strong understanding of satellite communication protocols and RF engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities, with experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in ground station operations.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
