Role overview and responsibilities

Dhruva Space is looking for a motivated and skilled FPGA Engineer to work on sponsored projects at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing high-speed digitizer hardware and software, focusing on RF communication systems and signal processing applications. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, particularly in RF and mixed-signal design.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop high-speed digitizer hardware and software from concept through to prototype, including block diagram creation and system architecture.
  • Collaborate with various transport-layer protocols to ensure interoperability between RF receivers and signal processing equipment across diverse applications, such as spectral monitoring, communications, and radar.
  • Design and implement digital transceivers specifically for satellite communications.
  • Create software scripts to control and evaluate digitizer system-on-modules, integrating ADC/DAC ICs with RF/microwave front-ends, baseband processors, power distribution networks, and clock distribution circuit.
  • Analyze and optimize signal chains using RF cascade concepts, including gain, noise figure, linearity, and input/output power metrics.

Candidate requirements
  • BE/B.Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field with 1+ years of professional experience, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of RF, analog, digital, and mixed-signal fundamentals. Familiarity with various communication protocols, digital communications, and digital signal processing is essential.
  • Experience with RF cascade analysis (gain, spurious, linearity, noise figure, etc.) and mixed-signal design.
  • Knowledge in phased-array systems, radar, electronic warfare, satellite communications, or military communication is a plus.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) and experience with FPGA/ASIC design, particularly with Xilinx FPGAs and Analog Devices transceiver ICs, is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and oscilloscopes is required.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python scripting, and C/C++ programming is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
